“Bella educates on many levels, but it also heals”, says Eduardo Verastegui, who plays the central character, Jose, in the film. Jose finds redemption after a tragic accident and his subsequent imprisonment. H.E.R.O has begun sponsoring the screening of the film in prisons nationwide with its program, Jose’s Second Chance. It offers a rare opportunity to those imprisoned to see through the eyes of Jose, and to see their own chance to heal and start again.

A forgotten multitude of Americans in prisons will struggle to throw off despair, change their hearts and start again this year. Jose’s Second Chance is there to invite and guide them towards making that change.
