Since the creation of the Bella HERO program in 2008, the Bella DVD has been requested by numerous high schools and colleges who were interested in making Bella a part of their curriculum.

Propelled by the impact the film was having on students, H.E.R.O. rolled out a new program, Bella on Campus. Last year, Bella on Campus held 22 screenings (complete with pizza and popcorn) on campuses including Yale, American University, Marquette, Boston University and the University of Michigan. H.E.R.O. staff and pregnancy care center representatives were on sight to lead discussions and to help answer questions. “Our screening of Bella was a huge success!” said Kate Koch form American University. “The reaction to the film was overwhelmingly positive. Members of our audience said Bella truly changed their perspective on abortion and the right to life of the unborn after seeing the movie.”

The film has shown itself to be a compelling educational tool for students at these events in understanding what a woman goes through in an unplanned pregnancy. Through discussions after the movie, the students grapple with issues of human dignity and learn about resources available to women at local pregnancy care centers.

This new program has caused such a storm of interest that six hundred screening inquiries have already come from colleges all over the country for the fall of this year.

Bella on Campus has been able to negotiate a discount with the film’s production company to lower screening fees; it also will be partnering with Students for Life in co-hosting screening events and providing speakers from local pregnancy care centers to lead discussions.

A new generation of minds will grapple with the truth of the intrinsic dignity of the human person this year. Bella on Campus has been there to ensure that the right answers are available.
